23 Jan After we say goodbye to friend…

…how can we know when it is time to say hello to a new one?

I have learned that it is better to grieve full than empty. Grieving goes on no matter what you do or don’t do.  No dog takes another’s spot, you are not being disloyal to the pet, or their memory, that you loved and lost… their spot remains empty yet chock full of memories. Love doesn’t die. The void will always be there and he/she will always be missed, but the new spot in your heart as it enlarges for the next dog is helpful and takes the terrible sting down to bearable. Your heart opens up a new spot gradually and enlarges, the new spot becomes very good and important in time.

If your dog past could speak that dog would want another dog to be given what they had. They would want one that might not be so fortunate, to have what they had.

LIFE IS A GIFT. Give the gift back as soon as you can. Delay doesn’t change sorrow, it puts life and love on hold. It puts it into a suspended dark chamber.
