WHO WE ARE:
Janeen’s Catahoula Leopard Dog Rescue (JCLDR) is a 501c3 nonprofit dog rescue, consisting of volunteers who worked together successfully in years past for other rescue organizations. JCLDR was officially organized in 2014. After being in rescue 15 years, serving in the capacity of Coordinator at Large, in-house behaviorist and Vice President, Janeen Jackson pulled together trusted volunteers to create JCLDR, sharing 40 years of experience and expertise with the Catahoula breed. Our goal is to be a help to the staggering numbers of dogs being thrown away, traumatized, and euthanized. We wish to aid humans in keeping their commitments to dogs, through education and support. We offer a proven Board of Directors who are compatible in rescue and skilled in business operations. In spite of hectic lifestyles, we each share part of the load as volunteers, seeking no reward or benefit for ourselves except giving life another chance. Dogs are not unfeeling pieces of furniture, and they deserve love, dignity, and a second chance. We are passionate about our mission, and for many of us it is a personal one. We understand that sometimes all people really need to inspire them to give a dog another chance, is to hear someone say, “I can help. Together we can make it work; I believe in you.” We strive to build a bridge of trust.
WHAT WE DO:
We rescue, rehabilitate, and place in adoptive homes mainly Catahoula and Catahoula mixes, but we also accept select mixed breeds if opportunity and resources allow. We offer vital necessary education, support, behavioral advise and guidance; sharing with the public, years of experience and expertise, striving to be the voice for the voiceless, the help for the helpless, giving homeless dogs another chance for safety and happiness they deserve. Our mission is one of service.
ACTUAL ACTIVITIES:
Our organization will fund-raise, pull dogs from shelters, vet them, and place them in foster care, which aids in relieving shelters of overload. We contact shelters, set vet appointments, make transport arrangements, screen fosters, adopters, and do home visits, prior to placing dogs in forever homes. We strive to set up educational events at business locations when invited to do so. We utilize internet avenues to procure more foster homes and volunteers, and to present adoptable dogs to the public. We also provide: advice via phone for rehab/training issues; tips on practical day to day dog care; breed information; nutritional advice; and safety information.
SOURCE AND DISPOSITION OF INCOME:
Funding comes from adoption fees, monetary donations, and possibly grants in the future. We also accept “in-kind” rescue related donations. No donation will become the property of Officers or Board members. No volunteers receive funds except for reimbursement when transactions are pre-approved and receipts submitted to substantiate reimbursement. All donations are tax deductible as allowed by law.
Dog rescue is not an easy mission. There is loss, sadness, despair, pain, tears, struggles, with added hours of paper work and protocols. Worthwhile things do not come easy. We believe in what we are doing; it is worthwhile. We give our time and strength our hearts are in this. JOIN IN TO HELP US!
