About This Dog

Sweet Aussie mix Stella had a rough run as a pup. We pulled her from a high-kill shelter in Abilene, Texas, in October 2016 when she was about 6 months old. She was transported all the way to Colorado to a foster home who was interested in adopting her. Unfortunately, the multiple children in the household proved too much for Stella, and the family decided not to keep her. We immediately found her another foster home, but the day after that home took her, the foster mom had a family emergency that required her to leave town. We scrambled to find another foster home for her, and had to take a temporary placement in southern Colorado. There, Stella received some basic training, socialization with large and small dogs, and also got caught up on vet care. By Christmas, we found another spot for her in the Denver metro area, this time with the hope that she would be adopted by her foster parent. After several months, our wish came true and Stella has a forever human and a dog pal to call her own!

Despite a rough start that initially left her cautious and stressed, Stella is now a happy, typical young Aussie mix. She loves going for hikes and keeping an eye out for trouble through the front window of her house. She wrestles with her dog brother, and will offer unrelenting kisses for her favorite people. She’s lucky to get to enjoy a lifetime of adventure with her new family!
